Description

Today’s sensor technologies mostly use water-repellent coatings to avoid stains. Vdust Plus is an alcohol-based cleaning solution with high volatility, ideal for removing water stains on coated sensors.

Unfortunately, alcohol is not very suitable for removing stains resulting from organic material (heavy lubricants, etc.). For this there is Smear Away – a strong cleaning solution that excellently removes even very annoying residues from organic material.

Since this cleaning solution is based on water, light strips can occur as a result of the hydrophobic coating of the lens. If this is the case, reduce the amount of liquid on the next cleaning stick or simply use Vdust Plus with a new stick to remove the strips.

Since it is often not immediately recognizable what kind of stains it is, it is recommended to start with one of the two liquids first. Once the dirt has disappeared, you can finish the cleaning curtain immediately. Otherwise, the liquid should be changed and the cleaning process should continue. It is essential to use a new cleaning stick. The cleaning fluids must not be mixed. Always swipe in the same direction when cleaning.

Smear Away anti-fog property, highly antistatic, removes grease on the first attempt, special materials prevent scratches on the sensor by cleaning. Best suited to remove oil-based residues (lubricant) and strong dust marks. Non-alcoholic and non-flammable. Best used with VisibleDust MXD-100 Green Series Swabs.

VDust Plus removes oily residues, is very volatile and allows streak-free cleaning in conjunction with DHAP orange and Ultra MXD-100 green Vswab.

Green MXD-100 Vswab patented V-shaped cleaning sticks ensure very good movement possibilities in the chamber, uniform movements and clean the corners efficiently through the shape. They fit all three solutions and the combined synthetic fiber material ensures very good results in the removal of oily greasers. The soft material protects the sensor (most suitable for fluorine-coated sensors) and removes residues streak-free.

EZ Sensor Cleaning Kit DUALPOWER-X Extra Strength —
VDust Plus™, Smear Away™, MXD-100 Green Vswabs™

  1. Refer to your camera’s manual on how to expose the sensor.
  2. Use Quasar® Plus Sensor Loupe® to inspect a sensor
  3. Brush the sensor surface with Arctic Butterfly®, Sensor Brush™ or use Zeeion hurricane blower to remove any loose contaminants.
  4. Since simple visual inspection can not determine the nature of stain light or heavy, first start with either liquid.
  5. Add 2 to 4 drops of VDust Plus™ or Smear Away™ to edge of swab head.
  6. Wait to allow for even saturation of the swab (can be calibrated from a few seconds to 30 seconds depending on environmental conditions). Do not allow the swab to dry out.
  7. Wipe across the sensor with gentle pressure. Discard the swab.
  8. Allow the sensor to dry completely.
  9. If any streaks appears due to Smear Away™, reduce over-saturation of the swab by using less liquid, allow more evaporation time or simply use Vdust Plus™ with a new swab to remove water streaks.
  10. If stain is removed, STOP
  11. Otherwise switch liquid, use a new swab proceed with cleaning.
  12. If any streaks appears due to Smear Away™, simply use Vdust Plus™ with a new swab to remove water streaks.
  13. Proceed with checking the sensor with Quasar® Plus Sensor Loupe®.
  14. Repeat if necessary.
  15. Highly recommend using the Arctic Butterfly® for a complete sensor cleaning.
  16. Release the camera shutter.

Please note:

  • Do not add two liquids on the same swab.
  • Use each liquid with seperate swab.
  • Always swab in the same direction.

A simple grain of quartz that is found in cheaper solutions are enough to produce an expensive scratch on the low pass filter. Our solutions are manufactured to the highest standard of quality that is practiced in pharmaceutical industries.

Visibledust solutions are calibrated for NORMAL evaporative rates:

  1. to keep the swab moist at all time to reduce the risk of scratch
  2. to increase the cleaning power, less swabbing more economical
  3. to reduce friction by being moist all time during swabbing

The potential risk of FAST evaporative solutions used as sensor cleaning are the following:

  1. an increase in the risk of damage and stress to sensor coating by using a premature dry swab
  2. a great reduction in cleaning power by shortening the contact time between contaminants and solution due to the increased evaporation rate of the solution
  3. increase in friction by using a premature drying swab, resulting in static charge build-up leading to an even greater dust accumulation on the sensor

Our cleaning liquids are intended to be placed on the swab first, so the concern for liquid seeping through the sensor is not valid or accurate. On the other hand, the disadvantages of a generic brand or FAST evaporative liquid used for sensor cleaning may in fact may cause damage to the sensor by requiring repeat swabbing and is not recommended.
